What is Pemeaxis?
Pemeaxis is an anticancer medicine used for various types of lung cancers.
Uses of Pemeaxis
- • Non-small cell lung cancer
- • Malignant pleural mesothelioma
How does Pemeaxis work?
It inhibits folate metabolism in the cancer cell, inhibiting DNA and RNA replication.
Precautions –
To be used cautiously in patients with:
- • Liver disorders
- • Renal disorders
- • Blood disorders
Drug interactions
- • Avoid using NSAIDS and other nephrotoxic drugs
- • Live vaccine
- • Drugs that interfere with folate metabolism
Common side-effects –
- • Fatigue
- • Nausea
- • Bone marrow suppression
- • Mouth ulcers
- • Loss of appetite
- • Diarrhea
- • Fluid retention
- • Hair loss
Severe side effects
- • Severe Myelosuppression
- • Anaphylactic reaction
- • Liver toxicity
- • Renal toxicity
Contraindication –
- • Hypersensitivity or allergy to drug components.
- • Pregnant women
- • Breastfeeding women
- • Renal impairment
- • People with severely low blood counts
